Privacy Policy for Tala

Tala is a local-first car maintenance logbook. This policy explains what the app
does and does not do with your information.

Summary

Tala does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. Everything
you enter stays on your device.

What data Tala stores

All data you create in Tala — vehicles, jobs, projects, parts, costs, notes,
photos, and document attachments — is stored locally on your device in an
on-device database and in the app's private storage. None of it is sent to us or
to any third party. Tala has no user accounts, no sign-in, and no analytics or
crash-reporting services.

Tala does not require and does not request network/internet access to function.

Permissions the app uses

Tala only accesses what you explicitly point it at:

• Photos / camera — when you choose to add a photo to a record, so you can
  capture or select an image. Tala only reads the specific items you select.
• Files — when you choose to attach a document (e.g. a receipt or PDF).
• Share sheet — when you export a backup or open an attachment, Tala hands
  the file to the Android share sheet so you can decide where it goes.

Tala does not access your location, contacts, microphone, or any other data.

Backups

Tala can export a backup file (a .zip containing your database and attached
files) at your request. Where that backup is stored or shared is entirely your
choice, made through the system share sheet — Tala does not upload it anywhere.

Separately, Android's built-in Auto Backup feature may copy the app's data to
your own personal Google account (Google Drive backup) so it can be restored if
you reinstall the app or set up a new device. This is a platform feature provided
by Android and Google, using your own Google account — the data is not sent to us
or to any third party, and Tala itself performs no upload. You can turn Android
backups on or off in your device's system settings.

Children's privacy

Tala does not collect any data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at the same
location with a revised "Last updated" date.
